Government releases more money for wheat farmers as planting season nears

GOVERNMENT has released US$5 million and ZWG15 million for wheat payments, bringing the total money set aside for wheat deliveries to US$28 million and ZWG 230 million ahead of the winter wheat cropping season.

In a statement, Grain Marketing Board chief executive officer Dr Edson Badarai said: The Grain Marketing Board has received US$5 million and ZWG15 million for wheat payments this week, bringing total payments for wheat deliveries to USD 28 million and ZWG 230 million.”

Dr Badari said the GMB “greatly appreciates all the efforts being put in place by Treasury to mobilise resources as farmers prepare for the winter wheat cropping season.”

He added that “GMB greatly appreciates the resilience and undoubted commitment and dedication of our farmers as the country drives towards a wheat-based food self-sufficiency.”
