ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) has joined the cricketing community in mourning the tragic death of Malawi Cricket operations manager Arjun Menon.
Menon, 48, a former Singapore international was brutally murdered in Blantyre, Malawi on Sunday.
“As a passionate advocate for cricket development across the globe, Menon worked closely with ZC on cross-border initiatives, including Malawian participation in Zimbabwe’s domestic competitions. His recent role as operations manager of Cricket Malawi saw him lead the sport to new heights, earning national accolades.
“We mourn not only a great cricket man, but also a dear friend – affable, committed and deeply knowledgeable. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, family, friends and the entire cricketing community.
“His presence will be sorely missed.
“May his soul rest in peace and may his contributions to the global game never be forgotten,” read a statement from ZC.
Menon played for Singapore as a wicketkeeper before venturing into coaching and mentoring players across continents – including in Chile, Botswana, Indonesia and Singapore.
In recent years, Menon’s work in Malawi brought renewed energy and remarkable success to the sport in the country, culminating in Malawi Cricket receiving three accolades at the Malawi Sport Awards.
