WOMEN Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Minister Monica Mutsvangwa has commended Government for achieving remarkable progress in empowering women and strengthening small enterprises.
Officially opening the Ministry’s Strategic Planning Workshop in Mutare today, Minister Mutsvangwa said her ministry had surpassed key national development targets set under the National Development Strategy (NDS)1 and laid a strong foundation for the next phase, NDS 2 (2026–2030).
“Through teamwork and commitment, we have strengthened the pillars of women empowerment, MSME growth and community resilience,” she said, further revealing that eight one-stop centres and mobile units have been established, reaching over 9 000 gender-based violence survivors, while more than 229 000 MSMEs had been trained.
The ministry also disbursed 87 000 loans, facilitated 30 000 market linkages and developed over 23 000 modern workspaces through public-private partnerships.
“We are not just implementing programmes, we are changing lives,” said
Minister Mutsvangwa, adding that the ministry would continue to champion financial inclusion, promote women’s participation in leadership, and digitalise its operations to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza applauded the ministry’s efforts, saying they were in line with the Second Republic’s vision of an empowered and prosperous upper middle-income society by 2030.
“These initiatives are transforming lives and driving inclusive growth,” he said.
