Governor’s ball raises $60k

The Bulawayo Provincial Minister of State’s Independence Ball on Thursday raised $60,000, two houses and groceries which will be donated to the less privileged in the city.
Announcing the donated goods, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Bulawayo, Cde Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo said they were yet to choose who will benefit from the proceeds.

“We managed to raise about $60,000, two houses from Hawkflight and a residential stand from River Valley Construction. My office and the Social Welfare Department are yet to choose those who will benefit,” she said.

Cde Moyo expressed gratitude to those who contributed towards the ball and urged other companies to contribute towards helping those in need.
“We must all actively participate in helping the less privileged and those in need to ensure development in the country,” she said.

Cde Moyo urged the business community to work together and support government initiatives and policies to ensure development and economic growth.
Service chiefs, heads of various government departments and Bulawayo business community attended the ball on Thursday night at the Large City Hall.
