Government is making frantic efforts to address the plight of staff at all State universities who have not yet been paid their full November salaries. The lecturers also did not get part of their August salary. In a statement yesterday, Higher and Tertiary, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo assured the staff at all State universities of Government’s commitment to urgently find a lasting solution to ensure that their salaries are paid when due and in an orderly and predictable manner.
“Accordingly, the ministry is liaising with Treasury to have this unacceptable situation redressed as a matter of urgency,” said Prof Moyo.
“The Ministry wishes to place Government’s appreciation for the hard work and sacrifices that staff at State universities are making to contribute to Zim-Asset by training and developing the country’s human capital without which the ongoing socio-economic transformation would neither be possible nor sustainable.”
