‘Govt keen on conducive business environment’

thrive, Acting President Joice Mujuru said yesterday. Speaking at the commissioning of Bakers Inn Shepperton Road’s two state-of-the-art bread production plants, Acting President Mujuru said revival and growth of the country’s economy required efforts of all stakeholders in various sectors.

Bakers Inn is a subsidiary of Insscor Africa.

“The baking industry faces lack of basic inputs such as packaging and machinery spares, which can be manufactured locally,” she said.

“On its part Government is committed to ensuring there is a conducive policy framework for all business to thrive. Government is also focused on working out long term solutions to water and power challenges through the various capital projects earmarked for this.”

The Acting President said Insscor expansion drive was in line with the country’s industrial development policy which seeks to re-equip and replace obsolete machinery with new technologies.

She said Insscor had consistently updated its products to suit the changing needs of customers. The two plants, said Acting President Mujuru, would increase Insscor’s production capacity.

“I am informed that the new plant we are commissioning today will increase Bakers Inn bread production capacity to over 600 000 loaves daily, pushing its supplies to 25 percent of bread production in Zimbabwe,” she said.

“I am informed that because the machinery is the latest on the world market, even the quality of products produced will be world class.”

She urged other companies to emulate Insscor’s expansion programme as the country intensified efforts to revive the economy. The new plants, she said, confirmed Insscor’s commitment to grow the local industry and to change lives of many Zimbabweans.

Trade and Commerce Deputy Minster Mike Bimha said Insscor’s expansion drive was encouraging. “For us as a Ministry it is an honour to be associated with expansion at Bakers Inn. Our wish is to see expansion and rather than closures,” said Deputy Minister Bimha.
