Mashakada’s widow seeks protection order

accusation during a court hearing at Chitungwiza magistrates’ courts where she is seeking a protection order against Miriam and her sister Memory Mashakada.

Eunice and the two are embroiled in an acrimonious wrangle over the estate of the late Sounds of the Muddy Face frontman.

“They must stop calling and sending me abusive messages, reporting bad things that I am a prostitute to H-Metro and other newspapers. They also send pictures of Cephas Mashakada’s grave and request to get the lorry with registration number 9135 as part of their share from the estate,” she said.

Eunice said although the distribution of the estate was done at the High Court, the two sisters could not accept it. But in their counter argument, Memory denied ever sending Eunice any abusive messages but later said it was her sister who sent her text messages.

“Eunice has never been sent any abusive messages. Why does she lie? She was the executor of the estate. Why does she need peace order two days after tampering with the estate,” she said.

Memory, however, conceded that it was Miriam who has a habit of sending Eunice text messages.

“My young sister was the one who sent the text messages. She gave us a vehicle with no battery and as of the picture with the grave, my sister was only asking her to place a tombstone on the grave,” said Memory.

Eunice could not come to terms with her stepdaughter’s utterances.

“I have a newspaper article that was facilitated by the respondent and I am finding it difficult to move around due to the contents of the article. I am hurt,” she said showing the court an article published in the H-Metro.

Presiding magistrate Ms Nomsa Sabarauta deferred the matter to June 14 for ruling.
