Govt okays tourism policy

the World Tourism Day commemora­tions in the resort town last week, a Tourism and Hospi­tality Ministry official, Mrs Gladys Chinyerere, said the policy would be officially launched before the end of the year.
“The National Tourism Policy is envisaged to tackle some of the operational challenges that people in the industry are facing,” she said. “It seeks to strengthen the country’s tourism and bring to the fore our cultural mix as an important com­ponent of our product.”
There have been widespread concerns from players in the tourism industry over the bottlenecks caused by a raft of conflicting policies in the tourism sector.
This had resulted in the frustration of investors.
