GOVERNMENT has said it is satisfied with the performance of the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) and the Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ), urging the two parastatals to continue complying with good corporate governance tenets.
This week, the two parastatals under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development held their Mid-Year Strategic Review Workshops in Bulawayo and Harare.
ZINARA senior officials gathered in Bulawayo, while officials from ACZ were in Harare.
In Bulawayo, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Joshua Sacco, on Monday commended ZINARA for its clean audit for the 2024 financial year and its transformative road infrastructure initiatives, while challenging the organisation to meet its ambitious target of licencing one million vehicles this year.
He also highlighted the administration’s critical role in advancing Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 through digital innovation, improved tolling systems, and strategic partnerships with road authorities.
Deputy Minister Sacco reiterated that the ICEA pillars—Integrity, Capacitation, Engagement, and Automation—were not mere buzzwords but the foundation of ZINARA’s evolution into a modern, accountable, and citizen-focused institution.
He also praised milestones such as the introduction of e-tags, the relocation of urban tollgates, and the blending of financial disbursements with fuel supplies to municipalities, which have enhanced road rehabilitation efforts.
The Deputy Minister urged continued transparency, agility, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure Zimbabwe’s road network meets growing economic and mobility demands.
The workshop served as a platform for critical reflection and strategy refinement as ZINARA advances its mandate under the National Development Strategy.
In Harare, the ACZ said it will continue complying with good corporate governance.
The event was graced by ACZ board chairman Advocate Tichaona John Muhonde, ACZ chief executive officer Mr Tawanda Gusha, board members and senior officials.
In an interview, Advocate Muhonde said: “We are here today, where we are doing our mid-term review. Mid-term review of 2025, the period January to June 2025. The purpose is reviewing our strategic plan for the year 2025, as well as our annual financial plan, the budget for the year 2025. As you all know, the purpose of the strategic review is to pause as a company, board and management, to reflect on the performance of the organisation to date, between January and June 2025.”
