Government has established a sexually transmitted diseases clinic in Mudzi district to encourage health-seeking behaviour for those suffering from the same.

District Medical Officer for Mudzi, Dr Sam Mutapure said every fortnight on Wednesday nights they cater for those needing sexually related attention.

“We realised that some people are not comfortable to come during the day for sexually related ailments so we decided to do it at night.
“There has been a huge response for the services and others come for family planning services,” said Dr Mutapure.

At Nyamapanda clinic just close to the border, services are in huge demand, especially from commercial sex workers.

“We conduct our sexually transmitted diseases clinic on Thursday and it has been hugely welcomed,” said Sister Sandra Tichivangani at Nyamapanda clinic.

Sex workers at the border who fielded questions from the media but refused to go on record were excited by the clinic.

Population Services Zimbabwe (PSZ) is supporting Government in availing family planning equipment as well as condoms.
