A THREE-DAY Training of Trainers for the remaining five Provincial Committees on Drug and Substance Abuse has begun in Kadoma this morning, signalling Government’s push to extend the national response to all provinces.
Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe, who is the deputy chairperson of the National Committee on Drug and Substance Abuse, officially opened the workshop on behalf of the chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri.
The training, running until Wednesday, brings together Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, provincial secretaries, traditional and religious leaders, and representatives of Government ministries, departments and agencies.
Provinces undergoing training include Mashonaland West, Midlands, Masvingo, Matabeleland North and South.
Development partners and facilitators are also attending.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo, her Midlands counterpart Cde Owen Ncube, Public Health Advisor to the President and Cabinet Dr Agnes Mahomva, and Secretary for Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Mr Pfungwa Kunaka, who chairs the National Technical Committee on Drug and Substance Abuse, are among the dignitaries present.
Five provincial committees were trained in 2024 and one this year.
