THE Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture has unveiled the inaugural “Kuzana” Sport and Creative Economy Expo of Zimbabwe.
The Expo is scheduled for October 7 to 11 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Arena.
Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Minister Anselem Sanyatwe announced the launch of the Expo designed to unlock the economic potential of sport and creative industries yesterday.
“The Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (MoSRAC) hereby announces the launch of the Kuzana Sport and Creative Economy Expo of Zimbabwe (SCEEZ), a landmark international platform designed to unlock the economic potential of the nation’s sport and creative industries.
“The inaugural Expo is scheduled for the 7th – 11th of October 2026, and will be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) arena with a headline soccer match at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo Metropolitan Province on the 11th of October 2026.
“The event aims to position Zimbabwe as a regional hub for sport and creative economy development and exporter by 2030.
Themed “From talent to GDP: Driving Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 through Sport and Creative industries,” the SCEEZ seeks to bridge the gap between raw artistic, athletic talent and tangible economic growth.
“The name “Kuzana” is derived from the Zimbabwean Nambya word meaning “to dance” or “to play” was chosen to symbolise the unification of the two industries. “To Play” speaks to the competitive spirit of sport, while “To Dance” captures the rhythm and performance of the diverse cultural and creative expressions.”
His Excellency President Mnangagwa will be the guest of honour for the official opening ceremony scheduled for October 9.
The initiative is being implemented through a strategic partnership between the Ministry as a convener and the Nhimbe Trust, as the technical partner — secretariat.
The five-day programme will combine exhibitions, conferences, sports competitions, arts showcase, and a musical concert.
The objectives of the Kuzana-SCEEZ include providing a consolidated marketplace for buyers and sellers of goods and services in sport and creative industries as well as promoting skills development, entrepreneurship, and innovation among practitioners.
It is also aimed at supporting the industrialisation of sport and arts, attracting local and international investment, and facilitating access to finance and markets for entrepreneurs.
Sanyatwe said the Expo is significant in realising national development goals.
“As the Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, I believe this Expo is significant in realising national development goals.
“The Kuzana-Sport and Creative Economy Expo is a strategic intervention to transform our vibrant talent into economic value.
“By providing a platform for trade and investment, we are not only celebrating our artists and sports-persons but actively contributing to the attainment of Vision 2030.
“This Expo will serve as a catalyst for the industrialisation of our creative and sport industries,” said Sanyatwe.
