GRADE Seven examinations are starting today, with examinations papers having been dispatched to all centres countrywide. About 318 447 pupils are expected to write the examinations which consist of Paper One and Paper Two for Mathematics, English, Content, Ndebele or Shona.

In a statement responding to questions from Chronicle yesterday, acting Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) chairman Mr Esau Nhandara said the examination body was ready for the examinations.

“A total of 318 447 pupils will be sitting for the Grade Seven examinations countrywide which shall start tomorrow (today). All has been planned and we are hopeful that everything will go smoothly till the end of the examinations on 18 October.

“The only challenge that we have is financial constraints which emanate from the late release of the full grant by the Treasury in time but this is being attended to,” said Mr Nhandara.
