A TWO-year-old boy from Bulawayo last week won a generator in a raffle that was run by SOS Herman Gmeiner Primary School. Rayjay Madyara won the generator which was the fourth prize in a draw that was conducted at the school on Saturday. Other prizes were a 32 inch plasma television, a four plate electric stove, a freezer and a microwave oven.
Rayjay’s mother, Mrs Caroline Madyara said she was happy that her son had won and added that this was the second time her son had won a prize in competitions.
“I am very happy for my boy, he seems to be so lucky these days because last month he won a four plate gas stove in a competition that was run by a local supermarket,” said Mrs Madyara.
The winner of the first prize, a plasma television set, Mr Dalubuhle Ncube, said he was surprised by the win as he did not want to enter the raffle and was forced to do so by his cousin.
“I was really not interested in buying the raffle ticket, it was my cousin who forced me to enter the raffle and he lent me the money I used to buy the ticket,’’said Ncube.
School Development Committee ( SDC) chairman Mr Phanuel Moyo, said the raffle was conducted to raise funds for the school’s various projects which include buying a seventy five -seater school bus, paving of the school car park and building a cultural village at the school.
Mrs Irene Sibanda SOS headmistress, thanked the community for supporting the raffle adding that the money that was raised would enable the school to complete some of it’s projects.
“I would like to thank the Bulawayo community for its continued support, the money raised from the raffle will enable us to complete payment for the school bus and we expect the bus to be delivered any time soon,” she said.
Other winners were Meluleki Tshuma who won a four plate stove, Margaret Kantedzani who won a freezer and Richard Mhara who won a microwave oven.
