A MARRIED 61-year-old man from Magwegwe suburb in Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly bashing his 27-year old pregnant ‘mistress’ following a misunderstanding.
Aaron Mbano, a father of 11, allegedly assaulted Ntombizodwa Sibanda, and she sustained some injuries and was referred to hospital.
Mbano appeared before Western Commonage Magistrate Themba Chimiso facing a physical abuse charge.
“I assaulted her because she refused to get out of my house when I ordered her to,” said Mbano.
Sibanda said she was assaulted over some money she had asked for.
“We had a misunderstanding over the issue of money. He then assaulted me with fists all over the body. I’m pregnant but my boyfriend didn’t consider this. He’s married and I’m his girlfriend and we stay together,” she said.
Chimiso postponed passing the sentence for five years on condition that Mbano does not commit a similar offence.
“The passing of sentence will be postponed for a period of five years on the condition that you don’t commit a similar offence involving violence,” said Chimiso.
Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza, said on April 10 Mbano and Sibanda had a misunderstanding.
“The accused person assaulted the complainant with fists and pushed her to the ground which resulted in her suffering some injuries. The complainant was referred to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment,” said Mageza.
The prosecutor said a medical report can be produced in court as evidence.
