mating, but this week the Selous community had its human equivalent when an 80-year-old man was fatally struck with a sharp object by his 50-year-old lover after a bush tryst, police have said.
The two lovebirds reportedly had a misunderstanding soon after being intimate at a love spot in the bush culminating in the fatal altercation.
According to police, Suwai Phiri of Wicklow Farm revealed during investigations that Yona Kalimbani died soon after they became intimate in the bush.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspe-ctor Clemence Mabgweazara said Phiri has since been arrested and is assisting police with investigations.
“What we have managed to gather so far as the police is that a misunderstanding arose after the two became intimate in the bush resulting in the woman picking up a sharp object which she used to strike the man,” he said.
After realising that he had fallen unconscious after the attack, Phiri allegedly dragged him to a nearby footpath and left him there before going home.
Police picked Phiri’s blood-stained skirt and tennis shoes whose marks police trailed to her doorstep.
Kalimbani’s body was found by a passer-by who made a report at Selous Police Station.
During investigations, she told police that she dragged her victim to a nearby footpath after he became very weak after their love session.
The two were reportedly long time lovers of over 10 years and on the fateful day they left the farm compound together and headed for a nearby bush where they became intimate.
Phiri is expected to appear in court soon facing murder charges, police said.
