A 50-year-old Beatrice woman was arrested last week and dragged to Chitungwiza magistrate court for possession of 0,956 kg of dagga and will now do 420 hours of community service.

The police are conducting a nationwide anti-drugs operation.

“It is the State’s case that Modester Gudo of Chartergrade Farm, Beatrice, not being a licensed dealer, or without any lawful authority, was found in possession of 0,956kg of dagga”, prosecutor Munyaradzi Karimazondo told the court.

Chitungwiza magistrate, Winfield Tiyatara, found her guilty and gave her 18 months’ imprisonment.

Six months were suspended on condition of future good behaviour while 12 months were suspended on condition that she would do 420 hours’ community service at Nyapfidza Primary School.

Police have warned the public that they face arrest if found in possession of dangerous drugs.
