A SAKUBVA-BASED pushcart operator got more than what he had bargained for when a swam of bees beseiged his cart moments after refusing to hand over an elderly client her US$7 change.
The incident happened today at Sakubva Market where a push cart operator was hired by the woman to move her goods from Mwamuka Market to the rank. The push cart operator only identified as Happy reportedly charged his client US$3.
According to witnesses, on payment, the woman produced a US$10 bill, and Happy reportedly shifted goal posts, and claimed that the goods were too heavy, and the charge had risen to US$10. The woman pleaded with Happy not to change the price, but he left with the money.
Witnesses said the woman boarded a bus heading to Chiredzi, and as the bus was leaving the rank, a swam of bees landed on the operator’s push cart.
Happy took to his heels, while vendors and travellers gathered to witness the drama.
Police were deployed to maintain law and order at the market. The bees were not attacking people despite series of provocations.
