Green Fuel aims to increase power production

Green Fuel general manager Mr Graeme Smith said full generating capacity would be reached soon.
“By July of this year we will be able to generate electricity at our full capacity of 18MW. We will consume 8MW of this, and export the remaining 10MW to Zesa,” he said. Mr Smith, however, expressed concern about the poor Zesa infrastructure that is used to transfer the surplus power onto the national grid.
“The current Zesa infrastructure available to export the power can only accommodate 4MW and is unreliable.” The ethanol plant, built under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) arrangement between the Agricultural Rural Development Authority and Green Fuel, commenced operations last year. – New Ziana.
