GREENFUEL coach Taurai Mangwiro was disappointed with Saturday’s 0-1 home defeat to TelOne and is plotting a quick rebound when they host Scottland at the same venue on Wednesday.
A goal from TelOne forward Panashe Mutasa was all Hebert Maruwa’s side needed to end Greenfuel’s unbeaten home record when the two sides clashed at Greenfuel Arena.
Greenfuel went unbeaten at home for the entire 2024 season and continued their fine form this term making their Arena a fortress until TelOne arrived on Saturday.
“We are disappointed to have lost a proud home record. They came with a game plan which they executed well. What we need now is to get encouragement from the fact that they also lost at their base against FC Platinum.
“It’s not like it’s the end of the world, we are disappointed to have dropped all three points today and we need to rectify the few grey areas.
“We have been conceding identical goals for the past few matches, and we need to work on it,” said Mangwiro.
Maruwa was happy to have ended Greenfuel’s record a matchday after losing their own unbeaten home record.
“Records are there to be broken, last week we lost to FC Platinum, we had a good run at home but we eventually lost and today they finally lost to us.
“I am very happy with the way they played and we need to make sure we build our confidence from this game,” said Maruwa.
There wasn’t a lot of goal action in the game that was marred with a lot of stop-starts as referee Grace Gimo failed to allow for a free flowing game.
Greenfuel were the better side in the first half as the visitors sat back allowing their opponents to play in their half.
Telone came back stronger in the second half and got the only goal of the game four minutes into the second period when Nigel Makumbe’s perfect cross was met with precision as Mutasa headed the only goal of the match.
