A 16-year-old girl was murdered, in gruesome fashion and her body was dumped at a neighbour’s house in Stoneridge Park, on Monday night.
She was reported to have been killed by a man believed to be 21.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.
“Police are investigating a murder case where the body of a 16-year-old girl was found dumped at a house in Stoneridge Park,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The girl was reported to have been murdered by a drug addict aged 21.”
Residents expressed shock with the gruesome murder and appealed for law enforcement organisations’ visibility and for them to descend heavily on illicit drug dealers in the area.
“We have a lot of people selling illicit drugs and a number of youths and men are taking part in these activities on a daily basis,” said the resident. If police deploy more officers to patrol during the night, and arrest the drug dealers, this might reduce such cases,” said the resident.
