POLICE in Bulawayo have launched a murder investigation following the gruesome discovery of a 52-year-old man’s body along Hyde Park Road in Old Magwegwe on Monday morning.
The victim, identified as Mlimisi Ncube of Pelandaba West suburb, was found lying in a pool of blood near the
Makaratini turn-off with stab wounds to his chest.
According to police, the body was discovered around 5 AM by a 43-year-old motorist who was driving along Hyde
Park Road when he noticed a man lying motionless by the roadside.
Suspecting something was amiss, the motorist stopped to investigate and found that the victim was unresponsive and had sustained serious injuries. He immediately alerted the police.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident and said investigations were underway.
“On June 22, 2026, at around 5.10 AM, a 43-year-old male motorist driving along Hyde Park Road discovered the body of Mlimisi Ncube (52) of Pelandaba West lying on the side of the road at the Makaratini turn-off in Old Magwegwe, Bulawayo.
“The deceased was lying in a pool of blood and had two stab wounds on the right side of the chest. A report was made to the police and the body was conveyed to United Bulawayo Hospitals for a post-mortem examination,” said Insp Msebele.
She said detectives were pursuing all possible leads and appealed to members of the public with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
“Investigations are in progress and we appeal to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused persons to report to any nearest police station,” she said.
Insp Msebele said law enforcement agents were committed to ensuring that those responsible for the killing are brought to justice.
“We also warn criminals that the police will not rest until they are brought to book,” said Insp Msebele.
The motive behind the killing remains unknown, with detectives continuing to piece together the circumstances surrounding Ncube’s death.
Police have urged anyone with information that may assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station as efforts to track down the perpetrators gather momentum.
