AN all-female entrepreneurship group aims to empower young women in the country to embrace technology.
The group, which is called Concord Young Women in Business Global (Concord YWIB) says thousands of young women would be empowered and employed through their programmes.
Running under the theme ‘Women’s Inclusion And Participation In Achieving Vision 2030’, Concord YWIB hosted its first programme of the year in Mashonaland West recently.
Concord YWIB founder, Aphia Musavengana, said they have intensified support for women to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“We have started ICT training programmes for young women in Mashonaland Central and this will spread to all provinces. They will all graduate on April 1,” said Musavengana.
“The empowerment drive is leaving no one behind as we also include persons living with disabilities.

“They would be trained to make foam bath, drill boreholes, tailoring and as make-up artists.
Musavengana encouraged every young woman to attend their training programmes.
“We have also started planning a march against drug abuse and suicide under the HEforSHE programme, which was initiated by the United Nations.
“The Concord YWIB Global International Board is expected to attend the 67th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the UN Women in New York.
“The Zimbabwe delegation would be led by the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development,” she said.
Musavengana said they had empowered more than 30 000 women in agriculture, small businesses, trading, mining and construction in recent months.
