HERENTALS forward, Tafadzwa Jim, says he wants to help his team finish in the top four and finally win some silverware.
The students reached the Chibuku Super Cup final last season, only to lose to Bulawayo Chiefs, as they missed out on their maiden silverware.
Herentals are set to play Triangle and Green Fuel, away from home, in their opening two fixtures, before returning home to host Manica Diamonds.
Jim managed six goals and six assists.
The 20-year-old forward is looking to be more clinical in front of goals.
“I want to help the team reach the top four and to win a silverware.
“Remember, last season we were close as we lost to Bulawayo Chiefs in the Chibuku final.
“We want to emulate that fine run in Cup games and I know that, with a bit of luck, we can lift something.”
He added:
“The zeal to score more goals is always part of me and it’s my career.
“I feel I can score more goals each time I am on the pitch, but my game is not just about scoring.
“I can assist other players and, altogether, I am looking to have double numbers both in goals and assists.
“I also want to help my team defensively.
“Last season was a bit harsh on me as I incurred injuries that saw me on the sidelines for several games.”
He added:
“I am hoping this season I will be able to avoid injuries and, as a player, I feel I have to improve a lot to keep on rising and fulfilling my potential.
“There is a lot of competition in our squad and I hope it will also help me to fight for my place and gradually improve my game.”
Jim believes opening the season will be a test of character since they had a bad record last season on the road.
“It’s not an easy start, I guess, because we have two away games.
“It’s a real test of character as we have to improve this season when we play away from home.
“There is a need for improvement since last season we were bad travellers.”
