The gospel programme, which is being broadcast by Radio Zimbabwe, has been on air every Sunday since October, and is expected to end this month.
Dubbed “Nziyo Dzechitendero”, the programme anchored by Richmond Siyakurima, has proved to be a hit with local gospel enthusiasts who can now enjoy gospel music, focusing mainly on local artistes.
The group was inspired to sponsor the programme after they got an overwhelming response during a live radio programme by Radio Zimbabwe, when they talked about their musical project after some of the group members visited the country in October.
One of the Masowe members, Lyndiwe Mabote, said they were happy to sponsor the programme because they wanted to preach the gospel through music.
“The composer of all songs on the ‘Yeso Arikushevedza’ album is Jesus Christ himself.
“So what we are doing here is handing his album proceeds to him because when we see a Christian society we see the Holy Spirit – Jesus Christ.”
By sponsoring the “Nziyo dzeChitendero” programme, Masowe eChishanu said it was one of the many initiatives they were undertaking to promote gospel music in Zimbabwe.
“Our programme does not discriminate against any artiste as long as their music is gospel,” says Madzimai Lyndiwe.
The group believes it is time to reach out to the world at large, by using the gift of the voice.
Gospel music has been and will always be a vehicle of expressing spiritual sentiments and spiritual commentary.
Gospel singing is a communication tool that reaches all global corners hence emotional Godly messages are conveyed through singing with the main aim of converting unbelievers into true ambassadors of Christ.
The group expressed its gratitude to Radio Zimbabwe and all listeners for their support.
“We are calling on all gospel artistes for unity amongst one another, support and promotion of each other as our aim is only but one – spreading the Holy Word,” she said.
