A gold panner in a group attacking security guards on a farm with stones was shot and killed by one of the guards, who is now under arrest in Kadoma on murder charges.

Police have also arrested the farm owner, Wonder Alufandika (41), for prospecting for gold without a licence.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in Kadoma arrested Elijah Mbwiri (31) in connection with the killing of Last Mapolisa (28) on Wednesday at Acton Farm.

Mbwiri shot Mapolisa with a shot gun once on the right shoulder when the crowd of illegal miners started throwing stones and advancing towards security guards who were securing the farm.

In Sun Yet Sen, Matabeleland South, police are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Brucele Ndiweni in connection with a killing on Tuesday at Vulindlela Business Centre, Lubhangwe Village.
