GUARD CLASHES WITH PARENTS OVER EXTRA LESSONS FEES

A SECURITY guard at a primary school in Eastlea yesterday clashed with parents who claimed she was threatening their children.

Identified only as Banda, the security guard was alleged to have been threatening to deal with pupils whose parents did not pay for extra lesson fees at Admiral Tait Primary School.

The guard is said to have compiled a list of children whose parents are fighting against payment for extra lessons.

The parents expressed their dismay when they met school authorities.

H-Metro attended the meeting where Banda told the school headmaster, in front of the parents, that she was not moved by the allegations.

“This is a government school, I am supposed to discharge my duties the way I see it and not be controlled by a few parents.

“I do not care about what they recorded, maybe, what they are playing is a voice projection.”

She was immediately booed by some parents.

She was excused and parents demanded her ouster from the school premises.

“This security guard is unfriendly and a threat to our children.

“We do not want to work with her anymore.

“The last time we asked her about the gate that is now being used, she said that she is the Admiral Tait School and no one can challenge her decision.

“We are the stakeholders of this school and the ones that pay the guards so we have every right to choose who we want to work with,” said one of the parents.

Banda said:

“There is an issue behind all this. I am used to all this and some parents do not respect my work, they once came here and whatever they did it did not shake my work,” said Banda.

The parents were advised to put their issues in writing and the headmaster promised to address them.
