A SECURITY guard stationed at Magwegwe High School collapsed and died on the spot on Tuesday morning while on duty.
The deceased was only identified as Mlotshwa.
When a B-Metro news crew arrived at Magwegwe high school a few hoursA�A�A� after the incident, a cloud of grief had engulfed the premises.
One of the colleagues who spoke to B-Metro on condition of anonymity said Mlotshwa complained of chest pains before he collapsed.
a�?He complained of severe chest pains before collapsing and suspected he might have inhaled mosquito coil fumes,a�? he said.
Another source from the school, who again spoke on condition of anonymity, said they saw Mlotshwa lying on the ground and assumed he was drunk.
a�?When we arrived for work, we saw Mlotshwa lying on the ground, but we ignored him because we thought he was drunk.
a�?Later, we tried to wake him up and he didna��t respond. He was then taken to the staff room where it was realised there was something wrong with him,a�? she said.
An ambulance was called and Mlotshwa was pronounced dead.
Bulawayo provincial education officer Dan Moyo confirmed the incident.
a�?There was a security guard who collapsed at Magwegwe High School and was pronounced dead by paramedics who attended the scene,a�? said Moyo.
Mlotshwaa��s family refused to speak to B-Metro saying that they did not call for media coverage. .
