Guard hacks girlfriend with machete

Borendo Mavhura (52) admitted to attempted murder charges when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Morgen Nemadire. He was remanded in custody to today to allow State counsel Mr Michael Reza to make his submissions. Mavhura admitted to striking her girlfriend three times with the machete.

However, during the pre-sentence inquiry it emerged that he struck his girlfriend seven times, three on the right arm, once on her left palm and thrice on the head.

The girlfriend Yeukai Ushlalu had asked for bus fare from him to attend a memorial service for her late relative in Mhondoro. The agreed facts are on February 24 this year, Mavhura had a dispute with Ushlalu after accusing her of impulsive spending. The court heard that Mavhura picked a machete and struck Ushlalu several times on the head and hands until she fell unconscious. When she briefly woke up during the assault Mavhura gave her the machete and asked her to chop off his manhood.
Neighbours took Yeukai to hospital and repor-ted the matter to the police leading to Mavhura’s arrest.
