A security guard yesterday appeared in court  facing charges of insulting his workmate and accusing her of being a prostitute.
Ignatius Chiwara (34) of House Number 7921/19 Sizinda and employed by Fawcett Security Company in Bulawayo, pleaded not guilty to a charge of criminal insult when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Mrs Evelyn Mashavakure. He was remanded to 11 July on $20 bail.
The prosecutor, Miss Paida Zengeni said on 25 March at about 5pm, Chiwara went to the Commercial  Bank of Zimbabwe (CBZ) banking hall, which is situated between Main Street and 15th Avenue, to conduct routine checks. On arrival, he found the complainant, who was manning the building, chatting with a male security guard who was also manning neighbouring premises.

The court was told that Chiwara confronted the complainant and went on to insult her accusing the woman of being a prostitute, saying: “Haunyare  here? Uri hure remunhu basa rekunyengana pabasa. Vakadzi vese veFawcett murimahure (Aren’t you ashamed of proposing love to each other during working hours? You are a prostitute including all other female guards working for Fawcett Security Company).”
