He said the provinces that started the verification process but were still to complete the exercise were urged to complete the process fast.
“This announcement is a follow up to our statement last week with regard to holding of DCC elections on 14 and 15 January 2012. We wish to clarify and amplify the statement. It should be stressed that the verification exercise of cell/village, branches and districts for purposes of holding elections for DCC executives is based on the 2011 records.
“It is also necessary to ensure that unresolved local challenging issues are finalised before the holding of DCC executive elections,” said Cde Gumbo.
He said Zanu-PF party was guided by the resolutions adopted at its conference held in December in Bulawayo.
Cde Gumbo said the conference resolutions saw the party emerging stronger as they enhanced Zanu-PF as a pro-democratic organised institution.
“The party, in line with the resolution of the Bulawayo party conference, stresses the need to hold democratic, transparent and credible DCC elections in the spirit of the founding principles of Zanu-PF and to avoid the imposition of candidates,” he said.
