“I have been following Zimbabwe school teams a lot and what I saw when these teams toured South Africa this year showed me just how much talent the team has.
“I had a chance of watching St George’s, Churchill and Prince Edward and they played great rugby.
“Believe me, the boys can actually make it into the top eight at the end of the festival,” said Gumunyu.
Zimbabwe have also not beaten Namibia in the last three years and this a trend coach Godwin “Jaws” Murambiwa would like to break this year. The last time Zimbabwe won all three games was during the 2007 edition.
From last year’s side Tabani Mujeni, Rukudzo Gona, Nicholas Burnett, Brendon Mandivenga, Tapiwa Murangani, captain Barend Moolman and Alex Zwart have all retained their places.
“We also have the likes of winger Brandon Boshi, Tawanda Ngosi, and I am very confident of this side because they are the quickest back-line I have ever had since coaching the Craven Week side, all the back liners can run (fast), they are skilled and I believe we have what it takes to match the Class of 2007.
