FOUR unknown men armed with a pistol and knives stormed a Cowdray Park home last Thursday night and made off with cash, cellphones and other valuables worth US$1 915.
In a statement, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the robbery occurred on 7 August 2026 at around 9:30PM at a house in Cowdray Park.
“A 21-year-old man was seated inside a Toyota Hiace (kombi) which was parked in the yard at his place of residence
when four unknown accused persons entered the yard through an unclosed gate,” said Insp Msebele.
One of the suspects was armed with a black pistol while two others were carrying Colombian knives.
“They opened the driver’s door, which was not locked, and threatened to shoot the complainant if he screamed. They searched him and took a Samsung A02 cellphone,” Insp Msebele said.
The gang then force-marched him into the house through the main door, which was also not locked. Inside, they moved from room to room.
In the main bedroom, they found a 42-year-old man seated on the bed with his wife. “They pointed a pistol at them and ordered them to surrender their valuables. They were handed a Techno 7 cellphone, a Samsung A04 cellphone and cash amounting to US$350,” she said.
The suspects proceeded to another bedroom where a 28-year-old man was sleeping. They woke him up and demanded valuables, before taking a Samsung A05 and a Samsung A15 cellphone. In the last bedroom, a 39-year-old man and his wife were confronted.
“Two of the accused persons pointed a pistol at them and threatened to kill them while demanding cash. They were given US$600, a speaker box and an inverter, before the suspects went away,” Insp. Msebele added.
The total value of the stolen property is US$1 915. Nothing has been recovered to date and a police report was made.
Inspector Msebele has appealed to members of the public who may have information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.
“We urge anyone with information which may assist us to visit any nearest police station and report,” she said.
Investigations are ongoing.
