A TSHISANYAMA owner in Bulawayo was left shaken after three armed robbers hijacked his black Mercedes Benz at gunpoint and dumped it in a bush in Pumula South.
The terrifying carjacking happened on 19 June around 5:30pm while the 53-year-old victim was parked outside his restaurant at Fort Street Extension and 15th Avenue, waiting for his employees to close shop.
“He was approached by three unknown men armed with a black pistol. They pointed the firearm at him and ordered him to be quiet,” said Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.
The robbers jumped in, shoved him to the back seat and sped off along Plumtree Road. During the ride, they searched him, took US$100 and a Samsung S05 cellphone, then dumped him in Newton West before driving off with his car.
The vehicle was recovered three days later in a bushy area of Pumula South. It had a flat tyre and no battery.
Police are appealing for leads.
“We are calling on members of the public with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward. These criminals are dangerous and must be brought to justice,” said Insp Msebele.
