A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Chiredzi cooked up fake O-Level results and tried to dose his way into a nursing career, but his dreams were quickly put to sleep.
Jonathan Mukwenha of Makondo Extension is now in police custody after he forged a Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) certificate claiming he had passed six subjects, when he had only managed two.
The scam came to light on 23 June at a Bulawayo hospital during a routine certificate verification for the May 2025 nursing intake.
“The accused person submitted that he passed six subjects in the November 2022 exams,” said Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele. “However, a Confirmation of Results Form from ZIMSEC Harare showed that he sat as a private candidate and passed only two out of six subjects.”
Hospital staff raised the alarm and police swooped in to arrest the bogus student nurse.
“We appreciate the vigilance of the school staff that exposed this unruly behavior,” said Insp Msebele. “We also warn the public against using fake documents. You will be caught and you will face the consequences.”
Sources say Mukwenha had already begun orientation with real students, pretending to be part of the future frontline health force.
Now he is facing charges instead of patients.
Instead of learning how to administer injections, he is now learning the hard way how the justice system works.
Fake certificates are a bad prescription. Just ask Jonathan.
