GUNMEN STRIKE FEAR! Kadoma couple brutalised at their home

TERROR rained down in Westview, Kadoma, when a young couple was tied up and robbed at gunpoint in a scary 3AM home invasion that left residents in shock.
Two suspects, Wellington Chamunorwa (31) and Jacob Sibanda (34), have since been hauled before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court facing armed robbery charges after their dramatic arrest hours later in Epworth.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the ordeal occurred on 17 August when the men allegedly smashed into the complainant’s house using a wheel spanner. The complainant, a 26-year-old driver employed at Mrasta Mining, was asleep with his wife when the nightmare began.

“The accused persons broke open the main entrance using a wheel spanner, entered the bedroom and threatened the couple with a silver 9mm Llama revolver. Both victims were tied up with data cables, while the house was ransacked,” read the NPAZ statement.
The gunmen reportedly vanished into the night with US$1 200 cash, valuables and the family’s Toyota Auris, leaving the traumatised couple bound and helpless.

But their luck ran out. Later that morning, police at a roadblock in Epworth intercepted the duo, recovering the stolen car, property, two balaclavas and firearms.
“The total value of stolen property was US$18 089, of which US$14 379 was recovered,” the NPAZ confirmed.

The suspects were remanded in custody, with plea recording set for 21 August 2025.
