A TEENAGER was brutally killed in Victoria Falls after a shocking fallout over water ended in bloodshed.
The alleged killer, 38-year-old Tinashe Wireless Nyarukokora, popularly known as “Spraga,” has appeared before the Victoria Falls Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of murder.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the tragedy began on 12 August when Spraga clashed with the now-deceased 17-year-old at the Victoria Falls wastewater treatment ponds.
“In the early hours of 13 August (around 0400hrs), while the now-deceased was returning from beer drinking in Chinotimba, he encountered the accused person at the same site. The accused person allegedly assaulted him with a wooden log and an electric cable before strangling him to death,” read part of the NPAZ statement.
Realising he had killed the teen, Spraga allegedly dumped the body in a sewer pond just metres from the assault scene. Days later, on 16 August, a worker at the treatment ponds made the grim discovery when he saw the body floating.
Investigations closed in on Spraga after a witness account emerged. “A witness reported hearing the deceased cry out: ‘Spraga, Spraga, why are you strangling me?’” revealed the NPAZ.
The accused was remanded in custody to 3 September 2025 for further proceedings.
