adminLONDON. — Arsenal have made an enquiry for Porto striker Jackson Martinez in case a loan deal for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata cannot be agreed. The Gunners re-opened talks with Real on Tuesday despite having their previous approaches for Morata rebuffed. Arsenal are ready offer Real Madrid a £2 million loan fee in order to sign Morata until the end of the season.
The Gunners are on the lookout for another forward to bolster their ranks following recent injuries to Olivier Giroud, Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott.
The 21-year-old is keen to go on-loan to gain experience, as he is not currently a regular at the Bernabeu, but Carlo Ancelotti has told him to stay put.
However, Arsenal hope to convince Madrid into allowing Morata to move to north London by offering a £2million loan fee.
The money is seen as a sweetener in the deal and is a clear sign that Arsene Wenger wants to bring in a striker, despite being coy on his transfer intentions last week.
Arsenal are expected to submit the offer in the next few days. — Mailonline.
