Gunners keep revival alive

YADAH Gunners moved within nine points of leaders Ngezi Platinum after beating Mushowani Stars at Callies in a Northern Region Division One tie at Callies on Saturday.

Gunners got their goals through Jonathan Chitereki’s 63rd minute spot-kick and David Rediyoni’s strike 10 minutes later.

Mushowani, who are under the guidance of veteran coach Jostein Mathuthu, had taken the lead in the 59th minute through Charles Chiutsa.

Gunners were the only club, among the top three, to win.

Northern Region Division One soccer standings after both leaders Ngezi Platinum and second-placed Black Rhinos were held to draws at the weekend.

Pacesetters Ngezi Platinum maintained their seven-point lead over Black Rhinos after being to a goalless draw by ZRP FC at Morris Depot on Saturday.

Coach Kifton “Somalia” Kadurira’s men have 31 points from 13 matches are still seven points clear of their nearest rivals after Rhinos dropped two points at the weekend when they drew 1-1 by Herentals at Rimuka in Kadoma.

Captain Lot Chiunga scored for Rhinos while Innocent Benza, the Herentals director who is still playing for his beloved club at the age of 43, replied for his team.
