TWO more people, a 55-year-old woman and a six-month-old baby, were brutally murdered in Guruve this Thursday, bringing the total number of people killed in that area to ten so far.
The police have since launched an investigation into the case and are conducting a manhunt for Anymore Zvitsva (32), believed to be the main suspect behind these murders. A reward is now being offered to anyone with information that might assist the police in locating him.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the details, stating, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating the brutal murder of an elderly woman aged 55 and a six-month-old infant at Farm 88, Nyakapupu, Guruve on 18th December 2025. The victims were found with multiple head injuries. More details will be released in due course.”
He mentioned that they are offering a substantial monetary reward for anyone with credible information that leads to the location and subsequent arrest of the murder suspect, Zvitsva.
“Anyone who provides information will certainly be rewarded, as pledged by the Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba. The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges those with information to contact the National Complaints Desk on 0242 703631 or WhatsApp 0712800197, or the Officer Commanding Guruve Police District, Chief Superintendent Marange, on 0719010093, or approach the nearest police station,” Commissioner Nyathi added.
Last Sunday night, five members of the same family from Ona Mapeto Farm in Ward 21, Guruve, were murdered in a brutal attack.
The victims included a 66-year-old mother, her 40-year-old son, a 37-year-old daughter, and two grandchildren aged 5 and 2. The family was attacked at their homestead, where they sustained fatal stab wounds.
Neighbours who heard screams rushed to the scene to offer assistance and found the son still alive. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The motive for the attack is still unknown.
The police have stated that they have intensified the search for the suspect with the aid of drone technology and manhunt teams comprising the Support Unit, Criminal Investigations Department, Canine Unit, horse patrols, and intelligence units to conduct close surveillance in the forest and mountains where the suspect is alleged to be hiding.
The police also indicated that Zvitsva is linked to several recent murders in Zimuna Village. Pamela Chipangura, Kudzai Chipangura, and Tawanda Chipangura were killed in cold blood. Pamela, who was 39 at the time of her death, was murdered along with her two children, Kudzai and Tawanda.
Commissioner Nyathi stated, “As investigations into the murder case at Ona Farm, Guruve, continue, the ZRP urges relatives and community members not to ignore mentally challenged individuals or those showing signs of mental instability. The public is urged to notify the nearest health facility, social welfare office, or police station so that these individuals can be referred to qualified professionals for treatment, proper assessment, and support.”
