ZIM dancehall sensation, Guspy Warrior, says he feels humbled to have been selected as the honorary artist on the newly-released Yakope riddim compilation.
The Mafia 19 boss is the only well-known artist on the compilation that features an array of new voices like Boi Breezy, Major King, Star Vybz, BG Star, Yut Killer, and Buyaka, among others. His song, titled “Baddies” on the riddim, is already getting airplay on some of the radio stations.
Guspy Warrior was engaged by Fyah Bantu King, of Bantu Arts Heritage on the project, to give mentorship and guidance to the featured up-and-coming artists.
“I felt honoured and humbled at the same time to be given such a role.
“I have worked with Fyah Bantu on a number of projects and I have so much respect for him.
“I urge all the up-and-coming artists on this compilation not to give up, music is a difficult journey but also has its rewards for those who persist.
“Music is life,” said Guspy Warrior.
Norton-based artist, Boi Breezy, who was discovered by Fyah Bantu King, expressed joy in recording on the riddim and working under Bantu Arts Heritage.
“It’s good to have people like Fyah Bantu King, who still have the heart for new talent.
“He has shown love and support to us upcoming artists, even though he is an artist himself, something which is very rare.”
