THE Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (Zinara) has given Gutu Rural District Council $23 000 for road repairs.
In an interview with The Herald, Gutu Rural District Council chief executive officer Mr Alexander Mutembwa confirmed the development.
He said they were going to patch the Masvingo-Gutu road.
“We have so far received $23 000 from Zinara, which will cater for road patching. Our rural district councils have chipped in and raised the funds to $88 000 and we are sure the project will go as planned,” said Mr Mutembwa.
Mrs Fungai Matura of Ward 1 in Gutu urged Government to repair all roads and ensure potholes do not damage vehicles.
Most roads in Masvingo Province are in bad state. Lack of resources has seen Government failing to repair the roads on time.
This has exposed road users to accidents. Mr Mathias Guramuwamba said Government must also think of widening the Gutu-Masvingo and Gutu -Harare roads.
He said some haulage truck drivers were now preferring using the Gutu-Harare-Masvingo Road.
Mr Guramuwamba said this has seen some roads being damaged by the haulage trucks.
