Government remains focused on building an economy that rewards productivity, attracts capital and sustains long-term confidence, Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has said.

He made the remarks on Wednesday when he spoke at the official opening of this year’s International Business Conference, held on the sidelines of the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF).

Drawing participants from a cross section of private players, among them captains of industry, fund managers scouting for opportunities and several important economic players, VP Chiwenga called on the conference to sleeve up, catch the early worm and take advantage of Government’s drive towards private sector-led economic growth.

VP Chiwenga said the country’s investment climate would be strengthened through measures aimed at ensuring stability, predictability and trust.

“We are determined to create an economy that rewards productivity, attracts capital and promotes long-term confidence,” said VP Chiwenga.

“In that regard, Government remains committed to policy consistency, fiscal discipline, the sanctity of contracts, protection of investments, transparent regulation and continuous improvement in the ease of doing business. These principles are essential to unlocking domestic and international investment.

“Government continues to streamline licensing systems, digitise public services, improve investor facilitation mechanisms and strengthen Special Economic Zones as centres of production, exports and employment creation.

“Our objective is to make Zimbabwe one of the most efficient and attractive investment destinations in the region,” said VP Chiwenga.

He said the thrust should be on building connected economies and globally competitive industries that will stand the test of time and create lasting prosperity for our people.

“The focus now is on execution and results. This conference must serve as a catalyst for concrete outcomes,” said VP Chiwenga.

“We must convert dialogue into investment, partnerships into projects and opportunities into measurable economic impact. Zimbabwe is ready and open for mutually beneficial partnerships.

“The policy direction is clear, the opportunities are substantial, and the commitment to reform is unwavering. We invite you to partner with us in building a modern, industrialised and prosperous Zimbabwe,” said VP Chiwenga.
