A 48-year-old Gwanda man has appeared in court for fatally beating his neighbour for talking with his niece.
Brian Ngulube struck Simon Ncube with a brick several times on the head, leaving him injured. Ncube was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital, where he died the following day.

Ngulube was remanded in custody to July 29 by Gwanda magistrate, Mr Progress Murandu.
Prosecuting, Mr Ngonidzashe Shumba said Ngulube attacked Ncube on July 2.
“On July 2 the now deceased arrived at Mpondo Business Centre, where he started talking to Ms Prudence Sibanda, who was a niece of the now deceased.

“Ngulube interjected and demanded to know why Ncube was talking to his niece, which resulted in a misunderstanding. Ngulube picked up a brick and struck Ncube on the head several times. People who were in the business centre intervened and stopped Ngulube from attacking Ncube further,” he said.

Mr Shumba said Ncube was ferried to Mpilo Central Hospital, where he was admitted. His condition continued to deteriorate and he was pronounced dead on the following day.
