Gweru blamed for typhoid

Munyaradzi Musiiwa Midlands Correspondent
Midlands Minister of State Owen Ncube has attributed the outbreak of typhoid and the subsequent loss of life in Gweru to negligence by the city council after concealing the situation for three weeks without informing the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

Speaking during the tour of hospitals and clinics in Gweru together with Health and Child Care Minister David Parirenyatwa, Minister Ncube said before the declaration of the typhoid situation as an outbreak three days ago, Gweru City Council had kept the situation under the raps despite attending to over 200 suspected cases.

He said had the outbreak been reported earlier, the lost lives could have been saved.
