Gweru City Council has handed over its parking and vehicle clamping department to a Harare City private parking entity, City Park.

The hand over- take over of the duties commenced today.

Gweru city spokesperson, Ms Vimbai Chingwaramuse confirmed the development saying for the next three weeks, motorists will be parking for free in the city as the two companies were still finalising some modalities.

“We have handed over our parking to City Park and for the next two to three weeks there will be no clamping as there will be some massive excercise to do with markings on our streets,”

“Effectively, City Park starts work today although they will not emmediately demand parking fees,” she said.
