A 20-year-old woman from Gweru tragically lost her life after allegedly consuming an unidentified poisonous substance.

The young woman was rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where she succumbed to the effects of the substance.

Gweru Provincial Hospital Superintendent Dr Fabian Mashingaidze confirmed that a female patient passed on while being attended to at the health institution.
“All we know is that we have a female patient who was brought in for treatment and unfortunately passed on. We can’t give any further information at the moment before results from a scheduled post moterm,” he said.

However, sources told this publication that the girl identified as Tanaka Mutukwa allegedly consumed some harmful substance in the Central Business District on Monday.
“A young woman named Tanaka Mutukwa had been in a relationship with a local car dealer who impregnated her but reportedly refused to take responsibility for the pregnancy,” said the source.

The source said Tanaka allegedly consumed poison in the CBD and was rushed to the General Provincial Hospital where she passed on while receiving treatment.
