THERE is widespread concern that some traffic police and Vehicle Inspection Department officials are letting unroadworthy public transport roam the country’s highways and this is contributing to horror accidents like the one which claimed the lives of 25 people along the Beitbridge-Masvingo highway.
The Urban Connect bus collided with a haulage truck last week.
The Government revealed that the bus didn’t have a valid Passenger Insurance Policy and route permit while the driver had not undergone retesting.
Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona suspended Urban Connect’s licence to operate as a public transporting firm.
