HAB cross-country selection set for tomorrow

HARARE Athletics Board (HAB) deputy chairman, Aaron Whyte, said he wants to assemble the best provincial team at tomorrow’s cross-country selection event at Allan Wilson School.

Selected individuals will represent Harare Province in the National Cross-Country Championships set for Bindura on January 14.

Whyte said the board had received positive responses from stakeholders.

He believes the selection criterion creates an equal chance for both seasoned and unseasoned athletes that want to make the team.

“We are expecting a good turnout from our athletes and we will be looking out for quality, not quantity,” he said.

“A united Harare will conquer but a divided house will not stand. When Harare does well, Zimbabwe does well also. If our top athletes come, we know the national champion will come from Harare,” he said.

“All athletes from our great province are welcome to be part of the event.

“Everyone has an equal chance and it’s the purpose of the select,” he said.

“We are expecting to come up with the best team to represent Harare,” he said
