A 34-YEAR-OLD Bulilima woman who seems to have a knack for stealing has appeared in court once again facing shoplifting charges. Sphiwe Ndlovu of Madlambuzi appeared before Plumtree magistrate Gideon Ruvetsa, after stealing a 100ml bottle of hair food from Plumtree Bakery and Supermarket, a month after she stole a packet of matemba from the same shop.
For her previous offence, Ndlovu appeared in court and was cautioned, but that did not stop her from going back to her old ways.
This time around, the woman bought some items on Monday which she placed in a plastic bag, together with a bottle of hair food which she had not paid for.
The hair food she stole was valued at $2.
When a security guard who was manning the exit discovered the offence, she begged him to remain quiet, and offered him $20 to buy his silence.
Prosecuting, Medica Tshuma said the security officer refused to take the money and handed over the woman to the police.
Ruvetsa lashed out at Ndlovu for being unrepentant.
“Just a month ago, you appeared before this very court for shoplifting and you are back again. You should have been grateful that you were pardoned the last time and used the experience as a lesson but you did not.
“This time around you will not be pardoned as you should face the consequences of your actions. It also appears that you had the money to pay for the hair food as you offered to bribe the security guard,” he said.
She was fined $20 fine, which she paid.
